All Pets in AION 2 and the Best Ones to Pick

In AION 2, pets are more than cosmetic companions that follow you around. They're essential allies that help you explore the world of Atreia and provide massive passive stat boosts to your character. You can collect various pets, and choosing the best one can be difficult. To help, here's a guide to pets in AION 2.

How to Get Pets in AION 2

You can acquire a pet in AION 2 in different ways. The first method is to hunt monsters in the wild and defeat them to collect their souls. Here's what you need to do:

  • Hunt down a monster of your choosing.
  • Once defeated, collect its Soul.
  • Gather 5 Souls of that specific monster.
  • Once collected, it automatically registers in your collection as a new pet.

Aside from combat, you can unlock non-Special pets by opening Mysterios, Growth, and type-specific Reward Chests. You can also buy many through the rotating Black Cloud Merchant stores or open Pet Soul Chests.

Once you acquire a pet, it starts at Level 1. You'll need to collect 25 additional Souls to upgrade it to Level 2. Gather another 75 Souls to max its Genus Insight Level (capped at Level 10) and unlock its Transformation ability, available at Level 3. Collecting pets increases your overall Insight Level and grants bonus stats through "Owned Effects".

All Pets in AION 2

AION 2 has 200 pets to collect, categorized into 5 distinct groups: Special, Cogni, Fera, Natura, and Varian. Here are all the pets in AION 2 and how to get them.

Best Pets to Pick in AION 2

When you start your adventure in AION 2, the game gives you two chances to claim free pets. Since each pet offers a different effect, choosing the right one early can give you a head start.

The Pet Selection Chest

After creating your character, check your mailbox. You'll receive a special care package containing a Pet Selection Chest. You get to pick one of four options:

Pet Option

In-Game Effect

Papis

+1 Mount Ground Speed

Silver Blade Rotan

0.1% Mount Stamina Sprint Cost Reduction

Konutin Worker

3 Stamina

Black Smoke Murute

3 Stamina

Pick either Konutin Worker or Black Smoke Murute. Both provide an extra 3 Stamina, which is incredibly valuable in early-game explorations and complements the mount you'll receive during your next main quest.

Episode 1 Quest Reward

Once you finish the "All Geared Up" quest (if you're an Elyos) or "Gathering Essentials" (if you're an Asmodian), you'll need to speak with Kaidros. He'll let you choose from three additional pets:

Pet Option

In-Game Effect

Fossa

+1 to Ground Speed (Works as a ground mount)

Armadon

+1 to Mount Ground Speed

Tog

+1 to Mount Ground Speed

You should pick Fossa. While all three offer the same speed boost, Fossa also doubles as a highly functional ground mount. It completely changes how fast you can navigate Atreia early in the game.

Best Pets in Each Category in AION 2

If you plan on hunting down your pets in Atreia, here are the best pets for each Category in AION 2.

Category

Top Non-Free/Chest Exclusives

Primary Value & Transformation Role

Why They're Worth Picking

Cogni

  • Elite Dratona
  • Varg Berserker
  • Phantasmal Lakshmi
  • Predator Saraswati

Physical & Offensive Genus Stats

(Humanoid / Warrior Transformations)

You can't collect their Souls in combat. Buying them from Black Cloud Merchants fills hard-to-complete Cogni milestones, boosting your passive Attack and Crit stats.

Fera

  • Aberrant Odyle Spider
  • Elite Ursus
  • Ashen Basilisk
  • Flame Barghest

Beast & Traversal Genus Stats

(Speed & Stamina Transformations)

These represent the highest tier of Fera beasts. Since they don't drop in the wild, acquiring them through shop chests quickly advances your Fera Genus Insight.

Natura

  • Ultimate Spirits (Wind, Fire, Water, Earth)
  • Spirit King's Bodyguard Warrior
  • Black Spirit

Elemental & Magic Genus Stats

(Caster / Support Transformations)

Ultimate Spirits are prime candidates for Level 3 Transformation. Transforming into them gives powerful elemental combat buffs, making them the most useful Natura picks in the shop.

Varian

  • Drakana Kalgolem
  • Drana Mutant Brute
  • Flame Stone Guardian Statue

Construct & Defensive Genus Stats

(Tank & Resilience Transformations)

Varian pets provide heavy defensive and HP passive stats. Because these brute-type variants aren't farmable, getting them from chests is essential to max out your defensive Genus thresholds.

How do players afford rare pets in Aion 2?

Collecting enough monster souls for high-tier pets takes a lot of time, so many players prefer buying pet contracts directly from other players. Because these rare contracts often cost millions of currency, players use the peer-to-peer Aion 2 Kinah market on PlayerAuctions to trade for the funds they need.

PlayerAuctions operates strictly as a mediator connecting gamers, not as a direct seller holding inventory. When you trade, the platform securely holds the payment and only releases it to the seller once the in-game delivery is fully verified. This keeps player-to-player trading safe and straightforward.

PlayerAuctions is an independent player-to-player marketplace for buying and selling virtual video game property. PlayerAuctions is NOT endorsed by, directly affiliated with, maintained, authorized, or sponsored by Aion 2 or its trademark owner.
