Oneiric Shards are a premium currency in Honkai: Star Rail that can be converted into Stellar Jade at a 1:1 ratio. Stellar Jade is used to purchase Star Rail Special Passes and Star Rail Passes for Warps, making Oneiric Shards useful when you want additional pulls during limited-time character or Light Cone banners.

You can purchase Oneiric Shards directly from the in-game store or get them through the Express Supply Pass, which provides Oneiric Shards upfront along with daily Stellar Jade. First-time purchases of each Oneiric Shard pack also provide additional bonus currency, although these first-purchase bonuses are only available once per pack tier.

If you are planning to pull for a particular character, an HSR top up can give you additional Oneiric Shards to convert into Stellar Jade. This can be especially useful when you are short of the currency needed for a banner before it ends.

How Many Oneiric Shards Do You Need?

The number of Oneiric Shards you need depends on how many Warps you plan to make and how much Stellar Jade you already have saved. In Honkai: Star Rail, one Warp costs 160 Stellar Jade, and Oneiric Shards can be converted into Stellar Jade at a 1:1 rate.

The character Event Warp system guarantees a 5-star character within 90 Warps if you have not received one earlier. When you obtain a 5-star character, there is also a chance it will be the featured limited character or a Standard 5-star character. If you lose this 50/50, your next 5-star character on the character Event Warp is guaranteed to be the featured unit.

This means you may need up to 180 Warps to guarantee a featured 5-star character from zero pity. At 160 Stellar Jade per Warp, that works out to a maximum of 14,400 Stellar Jade for 90 Warps or 28,800 Stellar Jade for 180 Warps. Since Oneiric Shards convert to Stellar Jade at a 1:1 ratio, the same figures apply if you are purchasing the full amount through Oneiric Shards.

There is also a 4-star guarantee within every 10 Warps, although the guaranteed reward can be either a 4-star character or Light Cone. Your actual cost can be much lower if you obtain your target character before reaching the pity limit, or if you already have Stellar Jade and Star Rail Special Passes saved.

Eidolon levels can increase the number of pulls you need if you want additional copies of a character. However, the value of each Eidolon varies from character to character, so it is worth checking a character's specific Eidolon effects before deciding how many additional Warps you want to make.

If you do not have enough Oneiric Shards for a current banner, saving Stellar Jade and Star Rail Special Passes for a future rerun is another option. Banner schedules can change, so keep an eye on upcoming character announcements and plan your Honkai: Star Rail top up around the banners you actually want to pull on.
