FF Tactics Ivalice Chronicles Bravery and Faith Explained and How to Increase

FF Tactics features have the Bravery and Faith stats, which have unique functions within the Ivalice Chronicles. They work differently from conventional stats and can even influence whether your team will run from a fight or not. Here is what FF Tactics Brave and Faith stats do:

What Do Brave and Fath Stats Do in FF Tactics

Brave and Faith are two unique stats in Final Fantasy: The Ivalice Chronicles because they provide multiple effects, from boosting specific attacks to forcing party members to flee. Both of these stats can be increased to enhance their potency, but they also have adverse effects. Here are the functions of the Brave and Faith stats in FF Tactics:

  • Brave (BR): This stat shows the courage of a unit. It primarily enhances the effectiveness of unarmed attacks and other weapons that scale with the Brave attribute. It can also enhance the potency of reaction abilities by increasing the rate at which they are activated. However, it does negatively impact the Treasure Hunter ability. One unique effect of these stats is that any party member who has less than five Brave at the end of any battle will leave the group because of their cowardice.
  • Faith (FA): This stat shows how strong a character’s belief in god. It mainly boosts the potency of offensive, healing, and chance-based spells. While Faith increases your spells’ destructive power, it also makes your members more susceptible to enemy abilities. Similar to Bravery, a unit will join the party at the end of the battle if you have more than 95 Faith on the character.

Both Brave and Faith increase in value during battles every time you invest four points in them. Some abilities, like Praise and Preach, can increase their potency by one point.

What are the Best Ways to Boost FF Tactics Brave and Faith

The four-point method to increase both Brave and Faith relies on using temporary boosts during battle to add permanent values at the end of the encounter. A unit will gain an additional point to either stat for every four points of temporary boosts. For example, if you use abilities that temporarily increase your Brave of Faith stats by 16 points, you will gain a permanent increase in either stat. The 4:1 ratio also works vice versa, which means you lose one point value in either attribute for every four temporary decrease.

The best ways to increase Brave and Faith are to use specific abilities during battle. The idea is to go to as many encounters as you can and use these skills whenever they’re available to boost their permanent values. Here are the best abilities to use to increase your Brave and Faith stats:

  • Steel (Squire Class): Temporarily increases Brave by 5
  • Cheer Up (Squire Class): Temporarily increases Brave by 5
  • Praise (Orator Class): Temporarily increases Brave by 4
  • Preach (Orator Class): Temporarily increases Faith by 4

⚔️Note: You can use these abilities multiple times in combat so that you can gain more than one permanent point per four temporary boosts.

However, it’s not advisable to have all characters with high values in both attributes. Tanks or frontliners should generally have low Faith to make them more durable against enemy spells. Meanwhile, Treasure Hunter characters you use for hunting rare items should have lower Brave to increase your chances of finding more unique things. You can permanently lower the value of both if you have an Orator in your party. Here are the skills you can use to decrease the permanent value of each stat:

  • Intimidate (Orator Class): Temporarily decreases Brave by 20 points
  • Enlighten (Orator Class): Temporarily decreases Faith by 20 points

You should be mindful of maintaining your Brave and Faith attributes at certain thresholds. Remember that a character will leave the party if they have less than five Brave values or more than 95 Faith values at the end of an encounter.

⚔️Note: Ramza can safely reach 97 Faith without the risk of deserting the party.
