Dispatch Kill or Spare Shroud - Results and Consequences

By the end of Dispatch Episode 8, you’ll be allowed to spare or kill Shroud, the big bad of the series. This final culminating sequence occurs after being teased in earlier episodes, when Chase asks Robert what he will do when he catches the villain. While the story does shoehorn you into specific outcomes, there are choices with clear, substantial implications for the story. Here are the results and consequences for either killing or sparing Shroud.

Sparing or Killing Shroud

The option to Sparing or Killing Shroud depends on your earlier choices, whether you keep or kick Invisigal out of the Z-team. If you opted to kick her out, then she’ll be the one to eliminate the villain herself, with her ultimate fate being uncertain as she disappears after killing him. However, if you do keep Invisigal in the Z-team, she will take a non-fatal shot for Robert, which prompts him to release a flurry of blows on Shroud.

In this sequence, Robert pins Shroud to the ground and puts his hands around his neck. You’ll be given a prompt whether to kill or spare him. Here are the outcomes for each choice:

  • Kill Shroud: If you choose to kill Shroud, a reporter will later ask Chase to confirm that an SDN killed Shroud, with the latter remarking that the villain deserved it.
  • Spare Shroud: If you choose to spare Shroud, a reporter will later ask Chase to confirm that an SDN captured Shroud, with the latter remarking that the guy who did it was a badass.

Ultimately, your choice whether to kill or spare Shroud will have minimal effect on the narrative. It will only impact the exchange between the reporter and Chase. However, in the end credits, the game will confirm whether you kept your word about what Robert should do if he catches Shroud in earlier episodes.
