With the launch of the Riven Tides update in ARC Raiders, players are diving into the new seafront. One of the first quests you’ll face in the update is Battening Down by Apollo. If you’re having a difficult time trying to find the seawall or oil pipes, you’re not alone. The map can be tricky, so to help you out, here’s a complete quest guide on Battening Down.
Battening Down Quest Guide in ARC Raiders
Before you head out to complete the mission, make sure you have the quest tracked. The quest has three objectives that you can complete in any order.
- Photograph the cracks forming in the seawall.
- Sample the shoreline near the hotel beach.
- Fix the leaking oil pipe in the northeast.
Here’s how to complete each objective to complete the Battening Down quest in ARC Raiders’ Riven Tides update.
Where to Photograph the Cracks in the Seawall
To complete this objective, you need to go to the Wavebreaker, a massive defensive structure on the eastern side of the map.

Open your map and find the Wavebreaker point of interest. |

Look just to the left of the Wavebreaker text. You will see a large hole in the wall. Head to the northern tip of this area. |

Look for a shipping container parked next to a network of cracks in the concrete. Pull out your camera and take the photo to complete this step. |
Where to Sample the Shoreline (Azzurro Beach)
For this objective, you’ll need to trek across to the northwest corner of the Riven Tides map.

Head to Azzurro Beach (also known as the hotel beach). |

Move directly north of the Azzurro Beach text and slightly southwest of the Seabed POI. |

Search the area where the water meets the sand. You are looking for a patch of seaweed that can be sampled. |
Where to Fix the Leaking Oil Pipe
This objective is located back on the eastern side, near the far end of the Wavebreaker.

Travel to the far northeast section of the shoreline. |

Look for two massive industrial pipes extending into the ocean. Navigate to the southernmost point of these pipes, where they sit closest to the seawall. |

Objective |
You’ll see a distinct rainbow-colored oil spill in the water. Interact with the pipe right next to the spill to repair the leak and finish the quest. |
If you spawn on the Western side of the map, start with the Azzurro Beach objective first. If you spawn on the Eastern side, you can complete the Seawall and Oil Pipe objectives back-to-back since they’re close to each other.
