The Sniper class takes the ranged combat of Space Marine 2 to the extreme, being able to pick off high-priority targets and even bosses with ease. This class rewards the most accurate players with fast TTKs, especially in Ruthless difficulty runs where enemies are at their tankiest. In this guide, we’ll provide you a powerful build and how you can push the Sniper’s effectiveness to its peak.
Sniper Mechanics and Passive
The Sniper has exclusive access to the Bolt Sniper Rifle and the Las Fusil, which all have the highest damage per shot values in the game, with extra damage for headshots. They’re also capable of wielding the Bolt Carbine to play as a cloak-and-dagger assassin build and the Stalker Bolt Rifle for DMR-like gunplay. As for their secondary and melee, they can only use the Bolt Pistol and Combat Knife. As a light class, Snipers only have two armor bars, much like the Vanguard and Assault classes. Their unique Wargear, the Camo Cloak, renders them completely invisible for 10 seconds, which is deactivated upon firing a shot or attacking in melee. Some perks provide buffs for exiting stealth.
Their passive ability gives them an inherent 10% more headshot damage for all weapons.

Endgame Loadout and Build
When picking the best primary weapon for the Sniper, the Las Fusil is by far the best-in-class weapon. Compared to the Bolt Sniper Rifle, it deals way more damage per shot but has a slower rate of fire and less than stellar ammo economy. This is where the perks come in, which helps restock your ammo reserves for this loadout. For the best versions, take the Gathalamor Crusade for the Las Fusil, the Drogos Reclamation for the Bolt Pistol and the Salvation of Bakka Combat Knife.
As for your perks, these will carry you all the way to Ruthless difficulty:
Core
- Block Breaker
- Vantage Point / High Capacity
- Lethal Efficiency
Team
- Squad Renewal
Gear
- Guardian Protocol
- Lingering Concealment
- Renewal
Signature
- Emergency Override
To explain why these perks are chosen, Block Breaker and Lethal Efficiency are there to keep your Las Fusil shots economical. Lethal Efficiency, in particular, allows you to shoot at groups of Minoris enemies with the Las Fusil without considering it a waste of ammo.
Vantage Point gives your Bolt Pistol more value in the endgame as this increases your damage for standing perfectly still, especially when far away from the fight. If you prefer having more Las Fusil ammo, you can swap this for High Capacity for more longevity with your weapon.
Squad Renewal is great since headshot kills not only fuel your Camo Cloak ability but also benefit your squad, as these can also apply to Minoris enemies and can be easily done by semi-accurate players. This means more Chapter Banners, Auspex Scans, and Iron Halos for the whole squad.
As for the Gear perks, Guardian Protocol, Lingering Concealment, and Renewal are chosen as these make your Camo Cloak’s functionality more meaningful than just a get-out-of-jail-free card in combat. Guardian Protocol buys your recently revived squadmate a chance to reposition while Lingering Concealment helps you get a couple of stealth shots in before being revealed. Renewal gives you maximum cloak uptime for playing the class the way it’s meant to be.
Finally, Emergency Override allows you to straight up ignore death multiple times with a relatively decent 3-minute timer, which is short compared to the duration of most Operations. This makes you the sole surviving member of the team who can outlast the respawn timers of dead squad members.
Sniper Tips and Tricks
- Use your Camo Cloak defensively. While the damage bonus of getting a ranged attack while cloaked is nice, this is far more valuable as a free revive button for downed teammates for the fact that all aggro is dropped when you’re invisible.
- Unless you have the Lethal Efficiency perk, never use your Las Fusil shots on Minoris enemies as you don’t have the ammo reserves to waste them. In Tyranid missions, killing the Warriors will also take some Hormagaunts with them, making it far more efficient for you to prioritize them first.
- Additionally, only use your Bolt Pistol for Minoris enemies as these are built exactly for standard horde-clearing. Also, use the Bolt Pistol on Majoris targets at Finisher range as the extra Las Fusil shot may be too overkill in lower difficulties.
- Never neglect your melee skills, even as a Sniper. The Combat Knife is a solid melee weapon that can kill Majoris targets just fine, and even has a fast parry animation that makes it ideal for dueling tougher targets.
