How to Fish in Once Human

Aside from a fishing rod, you’ll need bait to catch fish from any body of water. Several types are available in Once Human, and only some are craftable. The Dough Bait and Regular Bait can be purchased from any fishing NPC, but you can create the latter if you buy the formula.

The other types are Spiced Bait, Mince Bait, and Ground Bait, which can be purchased from specific fishing NPCs. If you aren’t sure where to get them, you can go to the Red Sands region around (3375,-1168) and find a merchant near the docks. You can also buy Formulas for all three of these baits, which allow you to craft them. The Universal Bait can only be obtained from a specific creature.

Where to Get Universal Bait

You can get Universal Bait from the Frog the Leaper Deviant. This frog will continuously generate this bait inside your bait, so you will have an endless supply. You can find Frog the Leaper in the Iron River region at (6147,-3380). You can use this bait to capture all types of fish because they all like it.

What To Do With Fish

Generally, you want to make food from the fish that you catch. These sea creatures spoil over time, so you need to use them immediately after you obtain them. Fish-based food also spoils, but it will take far longer to decay. On the other hand, if you use the fish to make Canned Food, they won’t spoil, so you can store them in your base for a very long time.

Northern Pikes have a particular function aside from making food. If you catch tons of this fish, you can go to the Fishing Merchant at (3375,-1168) and redeem them for melee weapons. Here are the items you can get by exchanging Northern Pikes:

  • Northern Pike B.P. (Melee Weapon) = 5 Northern Pikes
  • P. Frozen Tilapia = 10 Northern Pikes

Aside from Northern Pikes, you can also catch Electric Eels to power up your base. This Deviant-type fish randomly spawns in any body of water, so you can’t target farm them. Your best bet to catch them is to fish as much as possible and hope for the best.

Note: You can only use up to six Electric Eels to power up your bases unless you have a Memetic specialization that can increase your electric usage.
