If at least one survivor escapes, the campaign will finally be finished.

Narrative-wise, there is a connection and chronological order between campaigns, but this is unnecessary. This starkly contrasts with the first Left 4 Dead, where all campaigns are standalone. The Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns happen in the following order: Dead Center (mall), Dark Carnival, Swamp Fever, Hard Rain (New Orleans town during a storm), The Parish (the French Quarter).

Finally, Left 4 Dead 2 added melee weapons and new guns, which are the following:

• Shotguns:
  • Chrome Shotgun: a mid-tier shotgun with better reload times and spread.
  • Semi-Automatic Shotgun: deals more damage and has better spread
• SMGs:
  • MAC-10: deals more damage than the Uzi.
• Rifles:
  • AK-47: deals the most damage but is less accurate.
  • FN SCAR-L: deals more damage than the M16A2, has a burst mode, and is the most accurate rifle.

Apart from that, Left 4 Dead 2 has also adopted the prequel’s campaigns, along with the characters. However, the first set of characters cannot be played in Left 4 Dead 2 Campaigns, and the Left 4 Dead 2 cast cannot be played in the original. They, however, meet in the DLC Campaign The Passing, but the original Left 4 Dead cast cannot be simply cameos.
