How Does Banish Work in Megabonk?

Banishing an item or a weapon prevents it from ever appearing in the loot pool for the rest of the run. For players trying to create a specialized build, banishing items will be important to cut down on unnecessary items and increase their chance of getting the item they need. This guide will explain in detail how banishing works and how to use it effectively.

Banish Mechanics Explained

When you receive an item from a chest or gain an upgrade, you have the option to either take the item or banish it. Taking it gives you the benefit of that item, but banishing removes it from the item pool. This narrows down the pool, giving you a slightly better chance of receiving an item you'll want.

Once you unlock it, you start with 1 Banish per run and can increase the number of charges using Silver. Be sure to choose wisely, as you cannot reverse it or gain additional uses.

The Toggler

Once you gain enough Silver, you can use it to buy the Toggler setting. This allows you to remove select items from the loot pool before starting a run. You can use this setting to tailor your drops and push your custom build to the absolute limit while cutting down on RNG.

Items to Banish First

Some of the economy items like the Golden Shield and Golden Boots should be banished first, as the amount of gold dropped scales to the current difficulty of the run. Other items like the Cursed Tome and Skuleg should also be banished, as these increase the run’s difficulty (unless you’re going for high kill counts).

You should also use Banish on items that are less useful in the endgame, like the Key, Campfire, and Electric Plug.
