How to Unlock the DDM4 Phantom Lance in Gray Zone Warfare

The DDM4 Phantom Lance is one of the most powerful weapons to get in the early game in Gray Zone Warfare. It comes with pre-modified high-tier attachments that would normally take countless hours to unlock through vendor leveling. If you want to get your hands on the weapon, here's a complete guide on how to unlock the DDM4 Phantom Lance in the game.

Loadout for the Run in Gray Zone Warfare

To get the DDM4 Phantom Lance, you'll need to infiltrate Fort Narith to get a specialized item for Gunny. You might think you need decent gear, but you can still complete the run with basic Level 1 equipment from Gunny. The run's loadout focuses on long-range precision to keep you safe from attacks. Here's what you need.

  • Weapon: Remington 788 with FMJ ammunition
  • Gear: Gunfighter backpack and basic meds
  • Essential Tool: Binoculars

How to Infiltrate Fort Narith in Gray Zone Warfare

As mentioned, to get the DDM4 Phantom Lance, you need to infiltrate Fort Narith. It requires a careful approach so you don't get overwhelmed. The Fort is a high-tier area crawling with AI, so positioning correctly is key to a successful extraction. Here's a complete guide for the run.

Step 1: Create a Sniper Nest

The first step is to set up a vantage point on the mound overlooking the training course. The position serves as a sniper nest, allowing you to survey the area and pick off high-priority targets. Here's what you need to do.

  • Fly into Landing Zone Delta 3 and head to the mound at coordinates (141 131)
  • Priority targets include the sniper on the roof and any guards patrolling the courtyard.
  • Use your Remington 788 to "head-tap" enemies. Even with FMJ rounds, these shots are highly effective at long range.

Step 2: Clearing the Barracks

Now that you've cleared most of the enemies in the sniper nest, you'll need to move into the barracks, which will require close-quarters movement. Since the guards are aggressive, you need to creep through the hallways to maintain the element of surprise. At this step, it's also a good time to scavenge for armor and weapons from dead enemies. Here's what you need to do.

  • You can often find 3+ tier armor and better secondary weapons, like the AK-12, on fallen guards.
  • Walk slowly to avoid alerting interior guards. You can often catch them off guard if you don't run.

Step 3: Locate the Item

The core of the run is to get the specialized magazine located inside the barracks. The item is the only way to officially complete the task to unlock the Phantom Lance for purchase. Here's what you need to do.

  • Search the rooms thoroughly; the item is typically found on a desk in the designated quest area.
  • Once you have the magazine, avoid unnecessary combat to avoid losing it before extraction.

Bonus Step: The Bunker Code

While you're still in the barracks, there is a hidden bunker that can give you significant rewards. Finding the bunker lets you walk away with extra gear from the run. Here's what you need to do.

  • Once you locate the hidden bunker, use the code 5756, which is found in an in-game book, to open the electronic lock.
  • Inside, you may find military firearms crates containing advanced weapon parts and suppressors.

How to Unlock the DDM4 Phantom Lance in Gray Zone Warfare

Once you've got the specialized magazine, you need to survive the extraction. Dying before getting extracted will force you to restart the run. Here's what you need to do.

  • Choosing a less-traveled exit path will help you avoid respawned guards and ensure a safe trip back to base. Exit through the side areas where patrols are less frequent.
  • Once you return to the base, turning the magazine into Gunny will unlock the DDM4 Phantom Lance.
