Battlefield 4 was released in 2013 and was ostensibly a sequel to Battlefield 3: taking place within DICE’s “War of 2020” world. At launch, Battlefield 4 had a number of major, game-breaking technical bugs, it was problematic enough that DICE announced that work on all games had been paused until Battlefield 4 had been fixed. After a series of monumental patches, Battlefield 4 became playable and accrued something of a cult following.
