Traits are one of the most essential features in Throne and Liberty, especially when aiming to minimize your build. Though you gain access to these early in the game, they’re a massive part of the game’s end-game content. This system provides too many benefits to ignore and has challenging content to navigate. That’s why this guide will help players understand what exactly they need to do regarding Traits.

Each Trait can be applied to any item rarity: Green, Blue, and Purple. Green would be the most common, while Purple would be the most valuable. The amount of materials you need to Trait each type of gear will depend on the rarity, so the latter will require more expenses. Many people are tempted to trade off most of their assets to get Purple items to Trait them, but gamers should understand how valuable specific values are when enhancing them.
Need to Know Things about Traits
Players will naturally try to grind and farm the best Traits available in Throne and Liberty, which they plan on doing by putting on Purple gear. However, if you want to make the most of this system, you should focus on upgrading what you currently have rather than farming rare ones that you can’t max out. Here are the need to know things about Throne and Liberty Traits:
How to Upgrade Trait Lines
If you know what type of Trait you need for your build, your next step is to put them into your desired gear and max them out. Each Trait has four Tiers, and they get stronger with each upgrade. To enhance one, you’ll need to have a copy of the Trait you want to level up on the same item of the same gear slot. If you’re trying to max out a perk on your chest item, you also need another one with a similar line.
You need to use an item with a similar rarity to ensure a 100% success rate in enhancing your traits. To max out a trait on a blue leg item, you would need four pieces of leg items with blue rarities and the same line you wish to enhance. Using anything less than that would result in a 10% success percentage. If you use an item two Tiers lower than the one you’re upgrading, the rating becomes 1%.
However, failing to enhance a Trait provides you with a Blessing, which we call fail stacks in other MMOs. The more you fail an upgrade, the more you accumulate. You can use Blessings to increase the chances of successfully enhancing a Trait with lower-tier gear.
Max Out Your Blues First
Many players are immediately tempted to farm Purple Gear because they think they’re the best-in-slot items. While this is technically true, a Purple Item’s BiS status doesn’t manifest unless you fully max out its traits, and since you can place four of them, it’ll take a very long time before you can fully maximize them. Purple Items are tough to come by, and finding ones with the same Traits is even harder.
The key here is to focus on maxing out your Blue Items first. The idea is that Traits on Blue Gear are far easier to max out than ones on Purple sets. A Blue Item with Tier 4 Traits has more value and stats than higher rarity things with only Tier 1 perks. While you’ll want to transition to a fully maxed-out Purple Set later on, focusing on the Traits of your Blues will help you progress further into the game. Many have reported that they can easily solo many dungeons and bosses with just a Blue Set as long as they max out bonuses. In short, focus more on the stats and less on the colors.
Extracting Traits and Making a Lithograph
Players are often pulled into a situation wherein they get an item they like but don’t have a trait they want or vice versa. Fortunately, we have ways to preserve the gear or the line, so you don’t have to trash them and farm a thing you can use instead. If you find a trait you like or need on an item you don’t need, then you can use Trai Extraction Stone, which you can buy from the Contract Coin Merchant. The item's rarity will determine how many of these tokens will be consumed upon extraction.
If you find an item you like with Traits that you don’t need, turn them into Lithographs instead of selling them. You can find items called Recipe: Blank Lithographs for specific gear slots that will turn the thing into a recipe, removing unwanted traits. You can get these scrolls from the Auction House.
Replacing a Trait
There will be instances wherein you get an item that you like that also possesses Traits that you need, but it gets messed up by the third line. Fortunately, you can replace unwanted stats from your gear using items called Trait Conversion Stone. You do this by having an extra identical piece that has a Trait that you want. You can use the stone to move the perk from the extra gear and replace the line that you do not need in the original item. There is an option to gamble for a new trait if you don’t want to use duplicate gear, but due to its RNG nature, we highly advise against this. You can get Trait Conversion Stones from the Guild Merchant.
Trait Resonance
Once you have fully maxed out an item, the next step is adding a Resonance Trait. This feature adds additional stats to your gear and is a min-maxing system. You can add this type of Trait by either rolling for a random one or selecting a specific one. Both require Trait Resonance Stone, but the former requires less while the latter consumes around 20 pieces of them.
