In Throne and Liberty, players can create their own unique class identity by combining two different weapon families into one character. Each weapon has its own set of skills and passives with different effects and damage values. Since these weapons are a class in itself, it can be hard to choose which weapon combos are currently the best in the game. We’ve got you covered though. This tier list will rank every weapon combo based on their synergy, damage potential, and overall versatility in the endgame.
S-Tier
Greatsword / Sword and Shield
Combining Greatsword and Sword weapons allows for a tanky frontliner build. Greatsword's active skills have a good mix of AOE and single-target damage, while its passives give high amounts of durability. Sword's active skills mainly provide buffs and healing to cover for Greatsword's lack of utility on top of more damage, while its passives further improve durability.
Dagger / Staff
The Dagger and Staff work together really well, allowing the player to deal amazing damage from any distance. This is recommended for those who like a simple DPS build with no complexities.
Longbow / Crossbow
Both weapons allow for a steady stream of ranged DPS with relatively quick cooldowns for a mobile hit-and-run playstyle. Players with this build can remain stationary for more damage in PvE, or have more of a mobile setup for kiting in PvP.
Dagger / Crossbow
This is an extremely powerful weapon combo due to its ability to burst down enemies. It has high AoE damage, making it excellent for clearing mobs in dungeon and raid content. It also uses multi-hit attacks to build up Thundercloud stacks as fast as possible and heavily relies on weaken effects, high attack speed, and mobility.
Wand / Staff
This combo combines the two arcane forces to heal allies and inflict curses with the Wand, while also wreaking havoc with AoE elemental spells from the Staff. This build is recommended for those that prefer a hybrid of supporting allies while inflicting a decent amount of DPS.
A-Tier
Dagger / Greatsword
The Dagger and Greatsword are suited for those who prefer to play offensive tanks. The high damage and high health and endurance ratio makes for a good balance of offense and defense. This combo is great for players who like to play a more offensive tank class with some DPS capabilities.
Longbow / Dagger
The Longbow and Dagger combo makes up the iconic assassin playstyle, rapidly inflicting stacks of Poison on opponents and dashing in to execute high damage combos. This combination is one of the most mobile builds in the game.
Crossbow / Staff
This combo mixes the Crossbow's single-target DPS with the Staff's AoE potential, with both being able to deal specific types of elemental damage to certain enemies. This is a good build for players who like to do area denial at longer ranges with magic and projectiles.
B-Tier
Wand / Sword and Shield
Combining the Sword and Wand creates a good balance of melee and magic damage with some party support capabilities. The Sword’s active skills have decent damage with some great buffs, while its passives give out tank stats to better mitigate damage. On the other hand, the Wand's active skills also output a good bit of DPS, while also offering more support through heals and protection. These make the build one of the best in the game for support tank players.
Longbow / Staff
This combo dishes out ranged DPS from long ranges while also providing party utility. Both weapons can synergistically reduce each other's cooldowns, with flexible options for party-wide support. While it does less DPS than some of the dedicated ranged DPS builds, this combo can still cover a lot of roles in parties.
Dagger / Wand
Using a dagger and wand allows you to constantly poke at enemies and be extremely annoying by harassing them with crowd control and debuffs, while also having multiple survivability options through healing and escapes. It’s a good enough build for PvP, but is less viable in PvE.
Sword and Shield / Crossbow
The combination of Sword and shield and Crossbow creates a high-DPS build that comes with a bit of utility. The Sword's active and passive skills provide some damage mitigation, while the Crossbow helps cover the Sword’s weakness in long ranged combat. Although they do cover each other’s weaknesses, they don’t provide one another with any synergistic strengths.
C-Tier
Sword and Shield / Dagger
Taking the Dagger and the Sword and Shield build allows players to sustain themselves in a war of attrition. The Dagger's Skill Specializations allow for crowd control, while the Sword has some nice taunt mechanics. The combination of both allows for good opportunities to lock down groups of enemies. However, this build is severely lacking in terms of damage output, especially in comparison to the higher tiered combos in this list..
Longbow / Sword and Shield
This build is super handy as it allows players to switch weapons on the fly and fight battles at their preferred ranges.. This combo also allows players to continue dealing damage while repositioning themselves. However, this combo does sacrifice focus on damage capabilities in exchange for more versatility in all ranges.
D-Tier
Longbow / Wand
This weapon combination is a pure support build. Both weapons provide all the support skills a party needs while also increasing the team's damage output. The abilities in this combo can be tailored to the party's needs, whether that be more survivability or damage buffs. Although these are all beneficial in terms of support, this combo is practically on the lower end of the DPS metrics.
Longbow / Greatsword
Putting Greatsword and Longbow together allows for proficiency in both range and melee combat. Both weapons' active skills deal high amounts of damage with a lot of crowd control. However, their passives barely work together since one is geared mainly for slower melee combat while the other is for ranged combat. There isn’t much value in using this weapon combo outside of extremely niche cases.
Greatsword / Crossbow
Much like the Longbow and Greatsword, this weapon combo doesn’t have much use in the endgame since both weapons have passives that don’t click. This makes the combo lack any versatility that parties can take advantage of.
Wand / Crossbow
Enfeeble enemies with the Wand from afar while pelting them down with Weaken-enhanced bolts with the Crossbow. While this build is quite good in theory, it requires more knowledge in MMO combat due to its high action-per-minute requirement and a deep understanding of its most optimal damage rotation.
Staff / Sword and Shield
Using the Staff and the Sword and Shield creates a good mix of magic and melee damage with a bit of utility. The Staff's active skills are great for dealing damage while its passives add more damage and provides the mana needed to keep up with its mana-heavy active skills. While these two weapons are functionally great on their own, their passives clash with each other as they operate on specific ranges, weakening the class.
Wand / Greatsword
The Greatsword's slow attacks are supported by the Wand's crippling debuffs, though like the other D-tier combos, neither of their passives actually work well with each other due to their conflicting ranges. This combo also lacks damage mitigation, making users very squishy in combat.
Staff / Greatsword
This build sets enemies up, with the Staff providing elemental debuffs and the Greatsword finishing them off with its earth-shattering skills. The build offers decent DPS for both single-target and AoE scenarios, but there are far better weapon combos that have more synergistic passives and damage output compared to this one.
