Compared to its other counterparts, Pokémon Let’s Go is a mixture of old and new gameplay that has been ingeniously and seamlessly incorporated in the game without it being too gimmicky. The same old battles that we came to know and love throughout our childhood is still there, but the catching part is something new and refreshing that’s been brought together by Game Freak.
One of the main things that can either be good or bad for Pokémon fans is the distribution of the experience points per battle/catch. Instead of the good ol’ days where you have to level up your Pokémon one by one or acquire an Exp. Share, all other Pokémon in your party will automatically share experience points whenever you catch a Pokémon in the wild or go into battle with other trainers. This makes it much easier for the players since it saves them time and energy. However, some fans aren’t too keen on it since they feel like it takes away an aspect that the game has had since its first release way back in the ‘90s.
Another thing to point out is that in Let’s Go, there are no more random battles out in the wild nor inside tunnels. Instead, you get to see all the Pokémon that are available to catch. Again, this makes it easier for newcomers to the game since you get to see what you want to catch and what to avoid especially if you’re traversing areas filled with wild Pokémon.
Finally, probably the most obvious mechanic they’ve added to the game is how they’ve changed up the catching method. Instead of the usual technique of weakening the wild Pokémon by battling it and ultimately throwing a Pokéball, this time with the Switch’s motion controls, there’s no need for you to battle wild Pokémon (with a few exceptions like catching Snorlax) and you literally will have to do a throw action for the Pokéball to be tossed to the Pokémon!

There are two versions to play, Pokémon Let’s Go: Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go: Eevee. The question Pokémon lovers must ask themselves is “Which game should I play?” and there are some solid reasons to pick one over the other.
Version-exclusive Pokémon is generally the biggest division between the two editions of every Pokémon RPG game. For example, in Let’s Go Pikachu, you can get a wild Growlithe, whereas in Eevee, you run into Vulpix. The list then cascades from there.
Move tutors that are fancily dressed can be found in Pokémon Centers scattered across the region will teach your partner exclusive attacks that can’t be learned anywhere else. Eevee and Pikachu generally can’t learn moves from these different types, and their high attack power and secondary effects make them worthwhile investments.
Your Partner Pikachu has just a handful of exclusive moves available:
Meanwhile, Eevee is able to learn a move based on the types of each of its potential evolutions:
When discerning which to get, it all comes down to your own preference. If you want to keep the nostalgia going, go for Let’s Go Pikachu since the game is on Pokémon Yellow, the first Pokémon game released. If, on the other hand, you want to have an all-new starter, try Let’s Go Eevee.
