Why Gamers Buy POE Swords

Melee classes in Path of Exile were unpopular for quite some time, as they were eclipsed by AoE skill spam builds, especially those that deal elemental damage. Thankfully, they received a buff somewhere down the line, making them an equally viable choice. This didn’t make them better than AoE skill spam builds as well as other builds, but at least they’re now back on the board, and that those choosing them no longer have to choose between the gameplay and endgame competitiveness.

Path of Exile has also made distinctions between melee weaponry by giving each one certain bonuses that others don’t have. This means deciding on which one to use goes beyond aesthetics and the permitted weapons of a particular skill, although the latter definitely affects melee weapon choice pretty strongly. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of players that choose a particular melee weapon for the gimmick and the build just follows suit. This is particularly true for POE swords.

There are three kinds of swords: one-handed swords, one-handed thrusting swords, and two-handed swords. The differences, aside from two-handed sword damage being higher, is in the implicit modifier. For one-handed swords and two-handed swords, they have an “+X%/X to accuracy rating” implicit modifier, while one-handed thrusting swords have an “X% to global critical strike multiplier”.

Take note that the implicit modifier of one-handed and two-handed swords is not global, so they only increase the accuracy of attacks and skills that use the sword. On the other hand, one-handed thrusting swords’ implicit modifier applies to all skills.

The Difference Between POE Swords

There are a lot of builds that put the sword as a weapon first before the build, and then there are builds that require a specific Unique sword. This is because Unique swords have modifiers not found in other weapons, even from other Unique weapons of the same type. Some of these even grant users skills that cannot be found in skill gems and Ascendancy passive skill trees. Also, unlike Rare swords, most Unique swords do not have increased accuracy or global critical strike chance as an implicit modifier. 

What are POE Unique Swords?

Here is a list of unique swords POE:

• POE Starforge – increased elemental damage with attacks, global physical damage, attack speed, life, and AOE for attacks; physical damage can shock but you deal no elemental damage.
• POE Paradoxica – increased global critical strike chance multiplier and attacks with weapon deals double damage; has two veiled mods, which are unlocked by bringing the item to Jun, Veiled Master. The players can then choose which modifier the weapon will have.
• Lakishu’s Blade – increases accuracy, physical damage, attack speed, increased chances to avoid being stunned, and socketed gems are supported by level 1 Multistrike.

Apart from the conventional Unique weapons, there are also Replica Unique weapons. Introduced in Heist, they are different versions of currently existing Unique weapons and have different modifiers. A good example is the Replica Paradoxica, which only has the same implicit modifier and six veiled modifiers.

For players that have the time and patience to unlock them, the Replica Paradoxica can turn out to be a better weapon.

How Players Get POE Unique Swords

To obtain Unique swords, players must kill enemies that specifically drop them. However, there is no guarantee on how long this will take because of RNG. It's not unlikely that players will spend some time killing enemies over and over again until they finally get the item in question, which can be frustrating for those who aren’t very patient.

Some players might get bored quickly or don’t have the time to commit to grinding, praying to the RNG gods for their desired loot to drop. As a result, many players just decide to exchange or trade items that they don’t need with other players to obtain unique swords without depending on chance. A few players also look to online player-to-player marketplaces, on which they can buy POE unique swords from online sellers.
