What Makes Path of Exile Different

Path of Exile is a gothic top-down dungeon crawler that sets itself apart from the competition with how it handles character customization. Instead of inherent active skills in a skill tree, characters use skill gems, which are socketed into equipment in order for them to be used. To further enhance their relevant bonuses, players can choose to do POE Jewel Crafting. This is usually done by using an orb on a jewel. It should go without saying only Rare jewels can undergo crafting.

Jewels are dropped from monsters, and can also be obtained by trading with other players in exchange for currency, gear, skill gems, and even other jewels. Those that have one or two jewels that serve no purpose for the build are traded off for those that do.

There are also players who choose to buy jewels using real money, even when they have jewels and/or orbs to spare. This allows them to use these jewels and orbs in the future. The price of jewels depends on the rarity, viability, and demand for them. Usually, they determine the price of jewels converting the price of a jewel to that of how many Exalted Orbs it’s worth, and then to how much in dollars that number of Exalted Orbs would be.
