The OSRS Sailing Beta runs from June 26th to July 3rd, providing gamers with very little time to enjoy this new skilling game. You get to explore the high seas of Gielinor and experience various events. Jagex encourages players to complete the in-game survey so that developers can further improve this feature. In the meantime, here is every activity in OSRS Sailing Beta.
Available OSRS Sailing Beta Features
The current OSRS Sailing Beta will highlight three new main changes from the Alpha. These new features will be included in the official release, but will still receive significant revisions. Here are all the new available systems in the Sailing Beta.
Crew Members
- Players can now invite eligible NPCs to join them in their ship, and these characters have various traits that make them suitable for specific tasks. Each crew member has varying ranks for three different stats: Helmsmanship, Privateering, and Deckhandiness. Assigning these NPCs to the most appropriate task will help you improve in either sailing or transporting goods.
Ship Combat and Bounty Task
- The introduction of ship combat also brought in the new Bounty Tasks. Ship Combat follows the usual format of left-clicking to start firing at a target. You can do this as soon as you assign yourself or a crewmate to cannon. You have to monitor four stats (HP, Defense, Armour, and Speed) to see how strong your ship will fare against specific targets.
- Players can further upgrade their ships using better materials to make them more sea-worthy and battle-ready. There are also repair kits that players can bring on their journeys to ensure that they can fix any damage their ship receives.
- Bounty Tasks are port tasks that you can check via the notice boards—these activities task players with defeating specific creatures to earn various rewards.
Random Sea Events
- These events are brief and optional encounters designed to make sailing more engaging and immersive. Most of them provide loot and OSRS Sailing exp should you participate in them. Some examples of these are Strong Winds, Underwater Glow, and Lost Goods.
OSRS Sailing Future Release
Since we’re still in the beta phase of OSRS Sailing, more features will be added in the full release of the skill. More Bounties, Port Tasks, and Crew varieties will be introduced by then. In addition, we’ll also get improved Sea Charting and Shipwreck Salvaging. The Skill Cape for Sailing will also be available during the full release.
