New World Best Solo Build

Solo Build

Games like New World always strive to give their players a diverse experience and Amazon Games most certainly delivered on that from a combat standpoint. The game presents a wide variety of choices in weapons, magic, equipment, and stat combination, so there is no right or wrong way to approach a fight. Moreover, if you tailor the above factors towards achieving a certain playstyle, that qualifies as a build. This guide will lay out the best New World Solo Builds to help players get started.

With that said, even though the game allows for re-specing if you ever start doubting your current build or want to try a new one, your experience sadly does not carry over. For instance, if you switch from an Ice Caster build to a Melee build, then the return on all that investment you banked on learning the Ice Caster playstyle will be quite low. We recommend thoroughly exploring your options before deciding on your first build.

Of course, ascertaining what kind of build suits you the best requires analyzing your compatibility with tactical concepts such as:

  • Melee (High-intensity close-combat engagements depending on fast reaction times)
  • Ranged (Long-distance support made effective with precise aim and dodging)
  • Mage (Evasiveness to stay alive and retaliate with a mana-optimized flurry of spells)
  • Tank (Sponging up damage with limited mobility while returning the favor in greater due)
  • Healer (Curing debuffs and healing the party without directly partaking in combat)

New World Best Solo Build

It’s important to note that the aforementioned set of standard builds is effective in New World partially because of the party system. It is only when a party’s composition is well thought out, with each player excelling in their specialized role, that can it achieve great things.

However, if you are a solo player, which is quite normal, then you need to focus on hybrid builds that focus on more than one tactical concept without specializing in either. With that said, these are two of the best solo builds for you in PvP and PvE.

Barbaric Archer (PvP)

The Barbaric Archer is a great build for mowing down mobs in close range and maintaining a decent level of crowd control if you ever back away from getting overwhelmed.

Stat Distribution

  • 300 Dexterity
  • 150 Constitution

I would recommend going about this first by investing 100 points into Dexterity and 50 into Constitution - this is a good stat distribution to get you through the next milestone. After reaching 150 total stat points, you should then start dumping points into both Dexterity and Constitution until they reach 300 and 150, respectively.

Gear Recommendation

Regarding gear recommendations, while the freedom of vanity belongs to you, you should ultimately stick to the light category. I would suggest having a medium chest piece to fortify the biggest hitbox on your player model and light counterparts for the rest.

Weapon Choice

Only two weapons make the Barbaric Archer great: a bow and a hatchet. While you can go ahead and unlock as many perks as you like from their respective weapon mastery, these are a must for this build - unlock these first before moving on to your preferences:

Bow
  • Skirmisher
    • Evade Shot
      • Evasive Tactics
      • Dodge and Weave
      • Impale
    • Poison Shot
      • Archer Speed
      • Infected Arrows
      • Mark
  • Hunter
    • Penetrating Shot
      • Blood Soaked Arrow
      • Deep Strike
      • Long Range
      • Finishing Shot
Hatchet
  • Berserker
    • Berserk
      • On The Hunt
      • Berserking Refresh
    • Feral Rush
      • Dispatch
      • Crippling State
    • Raging Torrent
      • Aggressive Approach
      • Final Blow

Playstyle

At the start of any encounter, the idea is to use the Evade shot to land some damage safely before spamming poison and penetrating shots. Poison shots will create a poison cloud upon the impact that will continuously chip away at an enemy’s health while penetrating shots will do more significant damage and reward good aim.

Furthermore, if the enemy tries to close the distance, which is the most standard way of countering archers, then your Hatchet will be there to punish them. Simply activate your berserk mode and start spamming that Hatchet away for massive amounts of damage - when it runs out, simply use the Evade shot to create some distance and reset the strategy.

Master of the Gauntlets (PvE)

Unlike the preceding build that pleased the more high-intensity players that love physical damage, the Master of the Gauntlets build is tailored more toward magic lovers.

Stat Distribution

  • 300 Intelligence
  • 150 Constitution

The way I would recommend going about this is achieving 150 intelligence first and foremost. This will put you in a good position concerning the potency of your spells before you can build up that Constitution and eventually meet the overall requirement.

Gear Recommendation

Since the main idea behind focusing on spell-casting is staying alive, you should use medium gear. We recommend reinforcing this with a heavy helmet to tank those headshots that archers will often try to land on you from range and heavy chest armor for overall durability. The gloves, pants, and boots aren’t as important, so keep the boots light (to stay just below the heavyweight category) and the others on medium weight.

Weapon Choice

As the build’s name implies, you might’ve correctly anticipated this setup to harness the power of both the Void and the Ice Gauntlet. After all, the entire idea behind relentless spell-casting is throwing as many different kinds of projectiles as you can at the enemy. With that said, take care to unlock these perks before progressing further.

Void Gauntlet
  • Annihilation
    • Keen Confidence
    • Refreshing Precision
    • Oblivion
      • Withering Oblivion
      • Invigorating Oblivion
    • Petrifying Scream
      • Bone-chilling Voice
      • Fortifying Echoes
  • Decay
    • Orb of Decay
      • Draining Orb
      • Slowing Orb
      • Detonating Orb
Ice Gauntlet
  • Ice Tempest
    • Ice Spikes
      • Refreshing Spikes
      • Cold Reach
      • Energized Critical
    • Ice Storm
      • Weakening Gust
      • Storm Summoner
      • Punishing Storm
  • Builder
    • Quick Frost
    • Ice Shower
      • Enduring Shower

Playstyle

The best way to use the Ice Gauntlet is to cast Ice Storm on groups of enemies before rushing in to get a quick Ice Shower off them. The Ice Shower will stunlock a few enemies, even though it’s good enough to get at least one enemy stunlocked. This will allow you to do concentrated damage on them by unleashing a line of spikes with the Ice Spikes ability - the chances of the two connecting are very high.

On the other hand, whenever you switch to the Void Gauntlet, you need to come off with a Petrifying Scream to stagger the enemies in front of you, enabling you to confine them with the Oblivion spell. Inside the radius of this spell, not only will the enemies suffer continuous chip damage, but your damage will go up by 20% - have fun punishing those stunlocked enemies! Once the spell expires, fire off a final Orb of Decay to heal yourself before returning to the Ice Gauntlet and resetting your strategy.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, it’s best to run a hybrid build if you’re playing alone because it combines two or more weapons and is more capable of achieving tactical success past a certain learning curve. It may be hard at first to not only play but set up - just remember that, on an individual level, you will be much more capable than the average player.
