Genshin Impact Albedo Build and Lore (Backstory)

Albedo Genshin Impact

Name: Albedo

Vision: Geo

Birthday: 13 September

Constellation: Princeps Cretaceus

Titles: Kreideprinz, The Chalk Prince, Chief Alchemist, Captain of the Investigation Team

Albedo can stay as support with his E skill or become a primary damage dealer. His Elemental Skill summons a Geo construct that has a few effects. First, in an area around it, each attack from allies that hits an enemy has a chance to generate a Transient Blossom. The blossom deals AoE Geo damage that scales off of Albedo's defense. Blossoms may appear every 2 seconds. Due to dealing Geo damage, Crystallize reaction crystals drop abundantly, letting characters be shielded.

Its second effect happens when a character stands on the flower itself. After a few seconds, it will lift the person like an elevator. You can use this to avoid some enemy attacks or to set up a plunge attack. You can use it outside battles to quickly climb up cliffs or ledges. It can also be used as a jump-off point for gliding, similar to Venti's charged E skill. Hold the button to aim where to place the construct.

His Elemental Burst makes a surge of Geo crystals in front of him, dealing AoE Geo damage. If used within the vicinity of his construct, using the skill generates 7 Fatal Blossoms causing even more AoE Geo damage inside the field. It can't trigger Transient Blossoms, though.

Albedo Builds Genshin Impact

Sub DPS Build

Since the Husk of Opulent Dreams' release, it became the best in slot set for any DEF-scaling Geo user. Albedo is one such character; these artifacts will significantly increase his DPS output. Since the 4-set effects activate even when he's not the active character, he can keep the stacks, and the DEF boosts to keep his DPS up.

Main Stats: DEF%, Geo DMG Bonus, Crit Rate/DMG

Substats: Crit DMG/Rate, DEF, ATK

Support Build

An alternative to the above set is the Tenacity of the Millileth. Though Albedo doesn't care much about the HP boost, he can still support the party by buffing their ATK. The 4-set lets him do that every time a Transient Blossom procs. Because his E can last a long time before expiring, this makes the skill efficient. It's the best option from among the pre-Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact sets.

This build has the same stat priorities as the above.

Budget

The best 4-star artifact set you can give him is the Defender's Will. Even then, you're not going to use the 4-set effects. Combine it with the Gambler set for a boost in damage output.

Weapons

His best sword is the Cinnabar Spindle. As the only 4-star weapon with a DEF substat and Albedo being the only sword user with DEF scaling, it is made for him. You can also use most other blades, but this is the best one you can give him. Unfortunately, it's an event weapon, and there's no way to get it again unless the event gets a rerun.

Before that, players preferred to use Harbinger of Dawn. Even if it's a three-star weapon, you don't need to build his attack anyway, and it gives a significant boost to Crit Rate and Crit DMG. It's easy to keep Albedo's health at over 90% because of his DEF and role as Sub-DPS.

Other alternatives are:

  • Mistsplitter Reforged
  • Haran Geppaku Futsu
  • Primordial Jade Cutter
  • The Black Sword
  • Blackcliff Longsword
  • Aquila Favonia
  • Prototype Rancour

As you can see, most of these weapons have Crit substat, except for the last two, which are Physical DMG. The latter two are for players who want to use Albedo's regular attacks. The rest are to boost Crit Rate or DMG as you need.

Genshin Impact Albedo Lore (Backstory)

Albedo spent much of his younger life with his master, Rhinedottir. He has no memory of his parents, siblings, or family. In his deepest memories, he had always accompanied his master in domains. He was a mix of an apprentice and assistant, with his master teaching him about alchemy while participating in her adventures and experiments.

One day, they came across the Heart of Naberius. A short time later, Rhinedottir disappeared, leaving only a note, a letter, and some manuscripts of the Opus Magnum. The message contained a set of instructions:

  • Go to Mondstadt
  • Find Alice and give her the letter
  • Complete your final assignment

His final assignment was to 'go and find the truth and meaning of this world,' something he still ponders.

At any rate, he did as he was told, like a good student. Upon handing the letter to Alice, she noted that he would need a laboratory, and she couldn't provide one. Her solution is for him to join the Knights of Favonius, which Albedo had no problem with. His duties didn't take too much of his energy, after all. Plus, he got his own laboratory with various tools and equipment to his specifications. He was content until Alice introduced him to Klee, her daughter. After that, he spends all of his remaining energy cleaning up after his foster sister.

His arrival at Mondstadt changed how the citizens looked at alchemy. It was a relic, almost lost to time. What little they knew was barely enough to cover odds and ends, and how to make the grand creations in stories has been forgotten. With Albedo as the Chief Alchemist, alchemy was forever changed in Mond. He practices Khemia, an ancient art practiced in the long-ruined kingdom of Khaenri'ah. His extensive knowledge and experiences with his master created wonders and miracles unknown to the city.

While he is not a cold person, he considers friendship as 'maintaining the appropriate distance.' In essence, he is earnest and sincere in all his dealings, but nobody quite gets close enough to break the walls he set for himself. The ones who could call themselves the closest to him are his apprentice/assistants Timaeus and Sucrose. Maybe Klee too, but he treats her as a little sister, a special privilege.

This means that if he travels for materials or more research opportunities, nobody quite knows where he is or how to contact him. His avoidance of social interaction results from insufficient energy to maintain a friendship based on excessive enthusiasm.

Additional Notes

The 2.3 update and event Shadows Amidst Snowstorms confirms that Rhinedottir is Gold, who also created Durin and Subject Two. The latter is a failed experiment from the Primordial Human Project, left in the stomach of Durin, whose body lies in Dragonspine. In the update's events, the corpse had mutated a Whopperflower into the Fellflower that could mimic a human being.

This resulted in confusion as three Albedos were running around at the time, two of which wanted to supplant the third's position. It was easy to know which one is the Albedo the characters know, as he has the star mark on his neck (the others don't). When the event ended, the Fellflower Albedo was gone, but Subject Two was still on the loose.

The event confirmed many theories, namely Rhinedottir and Gold and Albedo's status as a created human. His connection to Khaenri'ah also solidified through his master's participation in the cataclysm 500 years ago. Though he never lived in the once glorious city, he practices their lost alchemy art, and he can be considered as being from there due to his master.

Anyway, that's all for Albedo. I hope this lets you appreciate his character more and that you enjoy the game even better! Keep on playing and having fun with Genshin Impact!
