How To Play EA Sports FC 25’s New Rush Mode

EA Sports FC 25 introduces a new game mode called Rush Mode. This new mode offers a fast-paced 5v5 soccer experience while still maintaining the feel and foundations of an 11v11 game. With Volta being replaced with Rush Mode, some may think that this mode is a standalone, but it won’t be. This is because Rush Mode will integrate in other game modes such as Ultimate Team, Career, Club, and Kick-off. Here’s a guide on FC 25’s new Rush Mode.

What Is Rush Mode and How to Play

As mentioned, Rush Mode is a 5v5 game, but it’ll take place in a modified and smaller field. You can play with three of your friends and control the outfield players and the goalkeeper will be controlled by the game’s AI, like in previous games. The goalkeeper can be controlled by one player to change its movements. If you don’t have anyone to play with, the game will put you with 3 random online players to complete the team.

The games in Rush Mode will last 7 minutes, with no half-times. Furthermore, if the ball is out of play, the game will be paused. When the timer reaches its 7-minute limit, the team with the most goals will take the win. If the match ends with a tie, the game will go into Golden Goal Extra Time that will last 2 minutes and 20 seconds. If there’s still a tie in the Golden Goal Extra Time, there’ll be a 1 on 1 Penalty Shootout.

Instead of starting the game with a kickoff, the team that can get to the halfway line first will be in possession of the ball. Another change from a regular match is that the offside rule has been modified. Instead of being offside in the halfway line, players can only be in the offside in the final third of the field.

In Rush Mode they also changed how severe fouls work, instead of getting a yellow card or red card, severe fouls will receive blue cards. When a player receives a blue card, they’ll have to leave the field for 1 minute or until the opposing team gets a score.

Just like fouls, penalties have been changed in Rush Mode. A penalty area is still available in the mode, but if a player gets a foul, there’ll be a 1 on 1 Penalty Shootout with the fouled player and the goalkeeper of the opposing team. The fouled player has 10 seconds to score. The game will not have substitutions and players won’t need to worry about injuries or long-term stamina depletion, since the games are short. The only thing to worry about is short-term stamina. Set pieces in Rush Mode have been smoothed out to be more efficient and simple. The player closest to the ball when it goes out will take part in the throw-ins or corner kicks, but if a player has committed a foul, they’ll be the ones to take part in the penalty kicks or free kicks. After a goal is scored, the players will be placed in the area they usually occupy. In Rush Mode free kicks will always be indirect, so shooting the ball directly at the goal does not count and won’t be allowed. You’ll need to pass it to a teammate for it to count. For corner kicks, the kicker can adjust where the ball will go by aiming the reticle seen on the ground. Stronger kicks will result in lower and faster trajectories, and weaker ones will result in higher and slower trajectories, but they can also opt to ground pass it. Both indirect free and corner kicks will be on the regular gameplay camera.

In Rush Mode, there won’t be fixed player roles or position, this is to provide the game with more of a focus on teamwork rather than having players all rush at the ball to get a score. To win, teams need to organize themselves accordingly and think of the best strategies. If a play stops, players will be placed back on the pitch depending on their most recent position. This feature also allows players to handle different roles, whether they that be to tackle, assist, or score. For easier communication with your teammates, the game has added a new Ping System where the players can point and signal the teammate on where to pass it, and to execute the strategies they want to perform in the match.

Ways To Play Rush Mode

The unique aspect of Rush Mode is that it’s not a standalone game mode, but the format and style of the game can be integrated with game modes such as Ultimate Team, Clubs, Kick-Off ,and Career. Here are all the various Rush Modes in EA FC 25.

Ultimate Team Rush

For Ultimate Team Rush, it’ll be the same as the regular Rush Mode where you can bring up to 3 friends to team up or hop in the game as a solo player with online teammates. In Ultimate Team, each player can bring a Player Item for their squad to build up the team. Players can also compete in special events and earn bonuses when completing challenges. Each match you play of Ultimate Rush also earns you Rush Points.

In Rush Ultimate Team you’ll need to first select an event. Rush games in Ultimate Team give you a challenge when building squads by limiting the Player Items you can bring at an event. The events may come with entry requirements that may restrict the player pool your team chooses from based on their Attribute, Country, Rarity, Clubs and Leagues. Aside from limiting the player pool, each event may vary the progression of your weekly objectives.

Since Rush groups promotes teamwork, the Rush Ultimate Team games will put you in a Squad Building stage. Players in your Club will be filtered to fit the event requirements and recommend the players fit for the event, so you can easily pick a player. If you don’t like the recommendations, you can still look for your preferred player. You and your teammates will only have 90 seconds to pick a player. The player you choose will be the one you’ll be control for the whole game. When squad building, you can earn extra Rush Points, multipliers, and bonuses per goal when completing requirements. Rush Points help you track your progress when completing weekly objectives, which will also earn you some rewards.

You can earn Rush Points by completing Weekly Objectives to earn rewards in Rush. The points can be earned on the pitch or during Squad Building when you complete a block requirement with your squad. The quickest way to earn Rush Points is to play with friends in a group, but if you can’t do that, there are also other ways such as playing a match, winning a match, completing blocks, and consecutively winning Rush games. The Block requirements are optional challenges that can be done with your team. In the Squad Building stage, your team can have up to 5 blocks to accomplish, so you can earn more Rush Points.

Clubs Rush

In Clubs Rush, you’ll play for your world rank and for your club. The mode wants you to climb up the ranks with your clubmates to improve your standing and earn Victory Points for your club. For Clubs Rush, the game will group you up with 3 more players to form a team or you can play with your clubmates. However, ut if the game can’t find you any teammates, it’ll allow you to have 2 human players and two AI teammates to fill the squad.

Your progress in Clubs Rush is focused on your Rush Player Rank, which will change depending on your performance in each match you take part in. You can boost your Rank Points by winning matches and if you lose, your Rank Points will also be deducted. The factors that affect how much you earn and lose in Rank Points are by your current rank, the difference in Rank Points between your team and the opposing team, and the outcome of the match.

When playing Clubs Rush, every match you play is for the club you’re representing. For each match you win, you’ll earn Victory Points for your club, which contributes to the club’s Rush Leaderboard. The higher your standing on the leaderboard, the more rewards you can unlock. Clubs that are top performers will get exclusive rewards. Clubs Rush is meant to help players rank up their clubs in the leaderboards.

Kick-Off Rush

Kick-Off Rush is a good way to help you warm up before playing your longer games. Due to the short time Rush Mode provides, you can easily pick your available teams in Kick-Off and face opponents in a friendly match. The same format and rules apply for Kick-Off Rush, the pitch will be smaller, and it’ll be a 5v5, where you can play with friends or with random online players. You can pick from a variety of match types such as standard exhibition matches, tournaments, and custom cup competitions. Then you’ll have to select a side whether you’ll be playing for the Home team or Away.

Career Rush

Career Rush allows you to be more involved with the young players. You’ll be able to level up the ir progress in a shorter format game. The young players will have a more detailed focus when it comes to developing their career. When playing in Career Rush, it allows you to be flexible in managing the young players, so you can improve their Overall Ratings or by using their full potential Rating to see how they perform. In Career Rush, there’ll also be tournaments held twice a month and if you win these, it’ll significantly increase the young players' growth to reach their full potential.

With the addition of Rush, it’ll bring a refreshing take to the FC 25 game modes, but also provide a shorter format for players who don’t want to fully commit to the time limit of regular games. It’ll also help players who just want a quick match to play with friends. Rush Mode is FC 25’s new game mode that promotes teamwork and strategic planning when playing against opponents to grab the win.
