Diablo 4 Best Malignant Powers for Necromancer

Diablo 4 Best Malignant Powers for Necromancer

The Necromancer is one of the strongest classes in Diablo 4—if you build it right. Being a beginner-friendly class, the Necromancer can summon minions that can fight for them in combat, making it easy for you to tackle enemies on the battlefield. Now that Malignant Hearts have been introduced to Season 1, players can access strong passive powers that grant new strength to builds of all classes.

Equal to Legendary Aspects but used in Gem slots, the power from Malignant Hearts can fuel the Necromancer’s certain skills to round out the dynamic build of your character. In this guide, I’ll list the best Malignant Powers you can use for your Necromancer builds.

The Great Feast

The Necromancer’s strongest Wrathful Heart—the Great Feast—in Diablo 4 makes Minion-based builds more powerful than ever, increasing their damage by 50-75% in exchange for a continuous Essence cost per second. My only gripe with this build is that much like other Summoner builds with Minions, you can expect lackluster damage from your Golem and Skeletons. Using the Aspect of the Great Feast gives you a significant power boost.

Suppose you’re not keen on using Minions and would rather sacrifice them. In that case, you’ll still benefit from The Great Feast heart, with the buff draining more of your resources but boosting your character’s damage in place of anything else instead. Moreover, if you’re creating a Necromancer build that centrals around Bone Skills that rely heavily on Sacrifice bonuses to get big damage numbers, this is one of the best Malignant Hearts to get.

The Calculated

After spending 150-200 Essence, The Calculated Heart turns your next attack into a Stun, stunning enemies for two seconds. This Malignant Heart works perfectly with Necromancer builds that rely on the Ultimate skill. Since the crowd control of this class already uses up a lot of resources, The Calculated fits naturally into the flower of the Necromancer’s combat.

If you’re the type of person that likes to test their might in the Fields of Hatred, then you might find a lot of success by simply equipping this Heart. The Stun is extremely useful when you're pitted against a class that won’t seem to stop attacking. Despite only a 2-second opening, it’s enough time for a Necromancer to overwhelm its opponent.

The Malignant Pact

Perhaps one of the more common Wrathful Hearts you can find in Diablo 4, The Malignant Pact lets you gain a bonus every time your Necromancer kills 20 enemies, depending on which slot you put the item in. In the Devious slot, this Heart will give your Basic and Core skills a 15% chance to restore your Primary Resource. While in a Vicious slot, you’ll gain 20% Attack Speed. Finally, if you put it in the Brutal slot, you’ll generate a Barrier every 21 seconds that can absorb damage.

It’s a great all-rounder Malignant Heart to have for a Necromancer. While it’s not necessarily my first pick of the bunch I’ve listed here, it’s a viable Malignant Heart to pair with your builds, regardless of what they are.

The Sacrilegious

A Vicious Heart exclusive to the Necromancer, The Sacrilegious’ power instantly activates a Corpse ability for every second you walk near a Corpse on the ground. In most Necromancer builds, you see online support creating Corpses, from one of the Reaper Skeletal Warrior upgrades via the Book of the Dead to the Hewed passive ability.

While the automatic skill activation that comes with The Sacrilegious deals reduced damage (30-40%), being able to use it without having to do any input will always be considered vital for a Necromancer.

Creeping Death

The Creeping Death is excellent because it can be applied to any class, meaning you can use it to any color Socket in a character’s gear. Equipping this Wrathful Heart increases your damage over time by 30-40% for each crowd control effect you do on a target. If the monsters are Unstoppable and the bosses are Staggered, you’ll do higher damage numbers—about 110-130%.

Since many Necromancer builds like to rely on crowd control using Corpse Macabre skills, Creeping Death is helpful to have in your arsenal. If you create a build that prioritizes using CC skills, you’ll take full advantage of what Creeping Death offers.

Frozen Terror

An exclusive Malignant Heart to the Necromancer, Frozen Terror, allows you to inflict Fear on a Lucky Hit for a short period (2.5 seconds) before all Chilling enemies are affected by that for 20% every second. Should you use Minions from the Book of the Dead, this Heart pairs perfectly with the Cold Skeletal Mages, who excel in using the Chilled condition. By freezing enemies in place, you and your Minions can gain an advantage in battle by dealing free damage.
