Diablo 4 Best Malignant Powers for Barbarian

Are you a Barbarian main that’s looking for the perfect Malignant Heart for your build? I’ve got you covered. Malignant Powers provide fun, new effects for Diablo 4 Season 1 players. By placing Malignant Hearts into the appropriate jewelry slots, you can take part in a new story in Sanctuary and dive through Malignant Tunnels. They’re powers that can provide unique builds for your class.

There are 32 Malignant Powers to collect in Diablo 4, half of which can be used by the Barbarian class. Meanwhile, the other half is dedicated to the other classes. While the Barbarian has many more Malignant Hearts in their arsenal, not all are necessarily great. In this guide, I’ll show you which Hearts outshine the rest.

The Malignant Pact

You should consider getting the Malignant Pact for all classes—not just the Barbarian. It’s one of the hardest Malignant Hearts to collect despite being available to all classes, but rest assured, the effort you’ll have to put in to get it is worth the trouble. For every 20 kills that you do, the Malignant Pact offers a different bonus. It can either create a 15-20% chance of Basic and Core Skills restoring your Fury (or another primary resource, depending on your class), boost your Attack Speed, or create a Barrier every 21 seconds. Best of all, the Malignant Pact strengthens all the other Malignant Powers you already have in your character. You can turn your Barbarian into a killing machine.

The Malignant Pact is also perfect when paired with the Whirlwind Barbarian build. While the damage output gained isn’t as strong as Aspect of The Barber, the Devious bonus can give you a strong Fury Regeneration. The Brutal bonus boosts your survivability, which interacts well with Conceited Aspect.

Focused Rage

Instead of rage quitting, why not focus all that rage on something that can benefit you? Focused Rage is an offensive Malignant Power exclusive to the Barbarian that bears similarities to The Calculated Malignant Heart in that it’s centered around spending Fury.

You’ll need to spend 60-100 Fury within 2 seconds to trigger Focused Rage. Doing so will increase your Barbarian’s Critical Strike Chance on their next non-Basic Skill by up to 30%. This power-up will make you wallop enemies even harder with the Barb’s stronger attacks. It allows you to throw everything you have into an intense battle while continuing to activate the ability.

If you’re thinking of slotting Focused Rage into your Hammer or the Ancients build, I advise that you do so. Thanks to the Unbridled Rage Core Skill, you can always have the bonus from Focused Rage, letting you get a monstrous amount of Critical Strike Chance.

Punishing Speed

It’s easy for things to go out of hand in Diablo 4, and as a Barbarian, it can be challenging to take hold of the situation again. Punishing Speed puts combat back into your hands when things go out of control. If you want to use this Malignant Heart effectively, you must have a good amount of Skills (with an Attack Speed above 35% or 20% at least).

Punishing Speed gives you a 30% of knocking down all enemies for 1.25 seconds. It’s sort of like the advanced version of The Calculated. Should you slot this in with a Barbarian build that prioritizes hacking and slashing as fast as possible, this Malignant Power will surely become an asset. Plus, since Punishing Speed is a Devious Heart, it’s way easier to get than the Wrathful Hearts I’ve mentioned on this list.

Ignoring Pain

Ignoring Pain is a Wrathful Heart, so it’s a rare Malignant Power that’s highly sought after. Any incoming damage you receive has a 5-15% chance of being ignored and instead heals you for 17-68 HP. Only available at World Tier 4, Ignoring Pain is a simple but highly effective ability. Combining it with other Life-based abilities, such as The Lionheart, can turn your Barbarian into the very definition of a tank.

Resurgent Life

In the same vein as Ignoring Pain, Resurgent Life is about increasing your survivability. Best of all, it’s way more accessible to get since it’s a Brutal Heart. If your Health is around 40-60%, you receive 50-60% more healing from all sources. For example, if you’re health is around 40%, the healing you’ll get from Heath Potions will be more potent than usual. It’s not as broken as Ignoring Pain, but you can treat Resurgent Life as the budget option of the two while trying to find better Malignant Hearts for your Barbarian.
