Complete Diablo 4 Silent Rootholds Guide: Rites and Rituals

The Silent Roothold is a new dungeon for Diablo 4’s Season of Witchcraft, and it comes with all new mechanics that may seem confusing at first. We’ll give you a step-by-step guide on how you can clear this dungeon and understand how the Ceremonies, Rites, and Rituals work here.

Entering A Silent Roothold

Before entering the dungeon, you’ll need to get a key much like needing Nightmare Sigils to enter a Nightmare Dungeon. When you reach the entrance to the dungeon, you’ll be presented with 3 choices: Ceremonies, Rituals, or Rites. Each choice provides one reward modifier and one negative modifier, making it harder for the entire dungeon run. Rites offer low-risk monster modifiers with a small reward; Rituals offer better rewards for more difficult modifiers; and Ceremonies give the best rewards in exchange for the most lethal modifiers.

Progressing Through a Silent Roothold

The mechanics for clearing one part of the dungeon is simple: Locate and destroy Exposed Roots to progress further inside. Each Exposed Root will spawn enemies once you interact with it. Killing all the enemies that spawn will destroy the Exposed Root and will drop a chest of loot.

Like most Nightmare Dungeons, there’ll be a boss at the end: The Headless Husk. This boss will drop better loot depending on the prior Rituals and Ceremonies you’ve selected. You can also expect a guaranteed drop of the Restless Rot currency.
