With the arrival of Boss Powers of Diablo 4 Season 8, some have risen to prominence in the current buildcrafting scene. Since these are account-wide and can be used by all characters, using these will make leveling easier, while synergizing them can absolutely melt even Uber bosses. Here are some of the absolute best Boss Powers you can get and why they’re so powerful.
S-Tier
Lilith’s Wind of Hate
Its main power is quite useful for dealing ramp-up damage against bosses, since its skill effect states that while it does 2800% damage on hit, the damage can be ramped up to 300% when you hit them again with the skill. Since this power procs on every skill cast, this already adds to your Main skill’s DPS even more.
Grigoire’s Lightning Square
Since Core skills are integral to most DPS rotation, and this Boss Power procs every time you use a Core skill, this will add an extra bust of Lightning that can easily burst down dense mobs and even bosses.
Urivar’s Lobbed Bombs
While the Main effect is decent for adding more DPS to your Ultimate, its Modifier makes it extremely valuable as it gives you cooldown reduction for killing an enemy with your main Boss Power ability.
Torusk's Rage
For builds with a CC effect, this turns a somewhat decent effect into a DPS boost for you as striking an enemy that’s crowd-controlled buffs you with damage, attack speed, and movement speed.
Lord Zir’s Blood Pool
Bleed builds will greatly synergize with this Boss Power, as simply dealing damage spawns a blood pool that inflicts Bleed. Stacking this with your existing Bleed skills will make your applied DoTs even more lethal.
A-Tier
Andariel’s Flaming Skull:
This Boss power is quite powerful for builds using Burn for its damage, but it comes with a glaring downside of standing still for it to proc. Channeling builds that root you in place can make good use of it, but against bosses, it can be more difficult to use.
Avarice’s Explosive Ore
Resource builds can make good use of this Boss Power, as gaining Resource while it's at cap will spawn exploding ores, which can boost your Basic skill damage quite well. However, since most builds rely on Core skills for damage, this is a bit more niche in its use.
Wandering Death’s Chest Beam
Using a channeled skill will cause you to shoot out a beam of frost that can deal increased damage when it's maintained on a target. Like Andariel’s Flaming Skull, this can be quite useful for certain classes that require Channeled skills, though most builds might not make good use of it.
Duriel’s Burrow
This effect greatly boosts your Evade by turning it into a more offensive skill, though this comes at the cost of a longer cooldown. Since Evade is best used as a defensive tool, the longer cooldown may cost you your life in bossfights.
B-Tier
Harbinger of Hatred’s Volley
Though the Vulnerable effect is quite powerful for endgame builds, getting this skill to actually proc is difficult in practice. In the right situations, you can proc this effect with maximum effect.
Belial’s Eye Beams
Damage reduction and extra DPS on potion use may sound tempting, but the 5-second cooldown period potion use is too risky for this effect, especially when you’re running a glass cannon build for the endgame.
Sinerat’s Flames
Inflicting Burn on using a Mobility skill is useful, but when compared to other Main Boss Powers, this is too minor to justify using. However, the Modifier effect is definitely worth using for the bonus elemental damage.
Varshan’s Life Steal
Squishier builds can utilize this well in the early game since this provides free health regen, but falls off in usefulness once they reach the endgame.
Belial’s Crystal Decoy
The Boss Power provides a nice utility for drawing aggro away from you, but some mobs are capable of ignoring Taunts, making this less useful in many scenarios.
C-Tier
Flesh Reaper’s Disruption
Exchanging a Vulnerable effect for Stun is not a good trade in most scenarios, as it’s far more optimal to maintain Vulnerable on an enemy than stunning them and reducing the time to kill.
Allek’s Talons
Boosting your Basic skills with Sparking damage is helpful in the early game for killing some of the earlier bosses, but the damage scaling drastically falls off in the endgame. Once you have your basic leveling build set up, it's best to swap this for something more impactful.
Blackmailer’s Sabotage
Barrier builds could certainly utilize this Boss Power for its crowd control effect on demand, but like the other Boss Powers in this ranking, it is not endgame viable and is better off swapped with a better power.
Kirma’s Sparks
The Sparking damage you get on Evade is too small to really justify its use, even while leveling. This effect is only good for levels 1-10, which, at this point, takes less than 5 minutes to reach.
Outlaw Sharpshooter’s Eye
Slow is one of the worst crowd control effects in the game, and this Boss Power provides no other utility. There is a use case for this power in PvP fights, but it has no other purpose in the meta.
Beast in the Ice’s Sleet
The effect only triggers after using 3 skills that have a CC effect. The execution for this power to proc is far too demanding, and even the damage proc is too low to consider when the best Boss Powers have easier activation requirements.
Skerg’s Toxins
This Boss Power only procs whenever you take damage, which is something that you want to avoid at all times. Inflicting poison on the enemy can only work if you’re somehow running a Thorns build, but even that build is too niche to consider running for the endgame.
Beastmaster’s Training
Had Minion or pet builds not been nerfed for this Season, this Boss Power might see some use for its utility in stunning enemies. Right now, it's too weak to really make any use of.
Hatred’s Embrace’s Haste
The movement speed buff when casting a Shadow or Fire skill is a nice little bonus for leveling, but most builds won’t really see the full benefit of slotting in this Boss Power for the most part.
