The pending arrival of Diablo 4 Season 7: Season of Witchcraft will shake up the current class meta quite a bit, with some balance changes that have buffed and nerfed certain classes. These classes are ranked based on their current performance in the Public Test Realm for this season. The criteria for ranking each class is based on factors like build variety, and endgame viability like Nightmare Dungeons and The Pit.
S-Tier
Necromancer
- Necromancer continues to defend its title as the best class for Season 7, especially with popular skills like Blood Wave and their Ultimate skill, Army of the Dead. The Minion Necro build, in particular, has received a lot of love from Blizzard since minions now have better scaling for the endgame. This class does not need min-maxed synergies to be good, as their Core skills still remain viable.
Druid
- Druid is another standout in Season 7, with Bouldercane and Cataclysm builds being the top performers in the PTR. Druids have some of the most diverse build options as even less used Core skills like Shred and Pulverize still perform well in Nightmare Dungeons. Players are uncertain if Blizzard will hit Druid with the nerf hammer, but right now, this class will see a lot of action for this season.
A-Tier
Spiritborn
- The Spiritborn class came out very strong at the start of Season 6, as it had a lot of skill interactions that flew under Blizzard’s radar. Since then, players have expected the class to be hit with some nerfs this season, but for now, it still remains powerful. Builds like Razor Wings and Poison-focused setups are mentioned as solid options. While it will likely lose its "broken" status, Spiritborn will likely remain competitive for both farming and Pit pushing due to its high damage output and versatility.
Rogue
- The Rogue class is a solid pick for Season 7, with a healthy variety of builds like Rain of Arrows, Shadow Imbuement, and Twisting Blades. Though Necromancer and Druid outperform the Rogue in DPS, it’s still a good class to pick, especially for players that like high APM gameplay. Since the class isn’t overperforming too hard in Season 7, Rogue is a safe choice for more casual players.
B-Tier
Barbarian
- Barbarian is ranked mid-tier for Season 7, with some improvement expected from builds like Earthquake and Leapquake. Players have noted that their skills feel more fun to play, but still fall short on damage. Whirlwind and other traditional Barbarian builds are still viable but are not expected to excel in high-tier Pits. The Barbarian class by and large, still feels mediocre in its endgame performance, though leveling with it can be fun.
C-Tier
Sorcerer
- Sorcerer has consistently struggled ever since the massive nerfs given to them before Vessel of Hatred, making it the lowest-ranking class for Season 7. Despite Blizzard’s promises of buffs and build-enabling Uniques, the class is still viewed as weak compared to the others. Sorcerers continue to suffer the lack of any reliable damage mitigation and damage scaling for the endgame. While some players remain optimistic about its potential, the community has decided that Sorcerer will continue to lag behind other classes in leveling and Pit pushing.
